Unemployment rate falls below 8 percent no comments

The Department of Labor announced on Friday that the official unemployment rate had decreased from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September. This is the first time in 44 months that the jobless rate has fallen below the eight-percent (8%) mark.

The U.S. embassy in Islamabad has released a series of advertisements showing President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemning the controversial film depicting Prophet Muhammad as a child molester, a womanizer and a ruthless killer in an attempt to placate Muslims in Pakistan. According to the embassy, the ads will be shown on seven Pakistani television stations and will cost the taxpayer $70,000 to air.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has warned the Obama administration that it should not rush to pass additional legislation following J.P. Morgan Chase’s heavy losses announced earlier on this week. The former governor has already criticized some of the regulations introduced under the president’s watch.
Republicans propose student loan act no comments

The interest rate charged on student loans will double
if Congress fail to act before July 1.
House Republicans have proposed their own bill to extend the low-interest rate which currently applies to government-backed student loans. Unless Congress acts before July 1, when a 2007 authorization is due to elapse, those who hold a student loan will face a 100-percent increase in the interest rate they are charged.

As expected, the Republican-led Senate rejected President Barack Obama‘s “Buffett Rule” which would have significantly increased the tax rate of those earning in excess of $1 million dollar per year. The proposal was named after billionaire investor Warren Buffet, who stated last Summer that he would be happy to pay more taxes.
Obama diverts $500 million to IRS to implement ObamaCare no comments
An article published in The Hill newspaper on Monday reports that the Obama administration will give a total of $500 million to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the implementation of the individual mandate and other provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

New rules introduced by the Obama administration will require all employers who offer health insurance to their workers to include free birth control cover.
The Obama administration has agreed to give some religious organizations an additional 12 months to abide by new rules demanding employers who offer health insurance to their workers to include free birth control cover. The extension, which was granted in order to provide some groups extra time to abide by the new rules, will not apply to religious institutions which already offer some forms of contraception.
